Labor Day weekend is arguably Metro Detroit's biggest weekend for festivals and special events. In addition to serving as a warm-weather weekend for a beach/park picnic, the official start to the cider-mill season and a last hurrah for school children, the weekend has plenty of activities to choose from:
  • Michigan Renaissance Festival
  • Michigan State Fair
  • Arts, Beats & Eats Festival
  • Detroit International Jazz Festival
  • Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix 2008
  • Hamtramck Labor Day Festival
More information about these events can be found in Metro Detroit Events and Things to Do in August 2008.

Gordon Castelnero’s documentary—Kelly and Company

Mark your calendar Detroiters for Wednesday, September 10th at 8:00 pm on Detroit’s Public Broadcasting System, Channel 56. Mr. Castelnero’s documentary will be shown as a pledge special with a repeat at 11:00 pm.

Gordon Castelnero loves Detroit, and his documentary on John Kelly and Marilyn Turner certainly expresses just how deeply committed he is to preserving the history of this wonderful city of ours. He is also an author of the book entitled TV Land—Detroit.

The Kelly and Company documentary recapture’s some of Detroit’s early 70s TV history that also features other Detroit TV personalities of that time period. So click on Detroit and give some support to our hometown talent.
