MSU Grad to Produce Academy Awards

Michigan State University can add another notch to its Hollywood belt this week, adding to such notable notches as Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell. Bill Mechanic, already well known in the industry, was named as co-producer of the 2010 Oscar show.

As you might remember, Mechanic's production company, Pandemonium, produced Coraline, a movie that had a lot of Detroit and MSU references throughout. When he was CEO of Fox, he also produced Titanic, a movie that had no Detroit or MSU references whatsoever.
