A lot of communities in the Metro-Detroit area hosted their tree-lighting celebrations over Thanksgiving weekend, but still other communities plan to light their trees over the coming weeks. For instance, Canton, Farmington, Utica and Ypsilanti are all hosting tree-lighting ceremonies this weekend. They all add some extra fun to the event with things like caroling, choirs, entertainment, hot chocolate, and, of course, Santa.
Tree-lighting ceremonies continue on into next week as well. For instance, Southgate turns its tree-lighting ceremony into a Winter Wonderland. In addition to the apparently obligatory hot chocolate, the Winter Wonderland includes train rides and ice carvings. Troy, too, has a tree-lighting ceremony planned next week at Veterans Plaza.
