Shows, Plays, Musicals and Parodies Coming to Detroit

By December 15, 2012

Follow me on:

We are at the height of our theater season in Metro Detroit, and one of the more unique productions coming to the area is Conned. The show entertains the audience at The City Theater in Detroit with laughter and insight into the many scams and cons perpetrated around the country. The cast include several famous con artists, including a pickpocket, fake psychic, and card cheater.

Later in the season, the same theater hosts a couple of parodies, including Spank! The Fifty Shades Parody and Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Potter Experience.

The Fisher Theatre in the New Center area of Detroit traditionally hosts the Broadway Shows that come to the area, including Jersey Boys, The The Book of Mormon, Memphis, and Catch Me If You Can. That being said, the Detroit Opera House is hosting one of the most anticipated shows of the season, The Lion King.

In addition to all things Disney, there are several other productions appropriate for children, including several plays at the Musical Hall Center for the Performing Arts in Detroit, as well as Sesame Street Live: Elmo Make Music and Scooby-Doo Live! Musical Mysteries at The Fox Theatre.

If you are interested in a particular type of productions, check out the following:

  • For circus lovers: Traces at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts in Clinton Township
  • For Jeff Daniels lovers: The Meaning of Almost Everything by Jeff Daniels at the Purple Rose Theatre in Chelsea
  • For Shakespeare lovers: The Complete Works of William Shakespeare at The Village Theater at Cherry Hill in Canton
