Detroit has a history of luxury when it comes to hotel options. Of course, some hotels are landmarks in themselves and have been serving downtown Detroit for a while now. Still others are the result of the influx of casinos into the downtown area or are brand-spanking-new developments incorporating historic hotel properties. In fact, several former-hotel properties on the National Register of Historic Places have reopened in the past year under new ownership after extensive renovation. To help you sort it all out, here is a list of downtown Detroit hotels:New Hotels

Landmark Hotels:
- Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center boasts the best view in Detroit. The hotel is located at the top of the main tower of the RenCen, the most recognizable building on the Detroit skyline. It is a luxury hotel with both rooms and suites. The hotel, situated as it is in the RenCen, offers many dining options, including Volt, forty-two degrees north, Andiamos and Coach Insignia.
- The Omni Detroit Hotel at River Place is a four-diamond, historic European hotel located on the riverfront. It is home to Fenders Tavern and has a riverfront patio along Detroits new RiverWalk.
- The Atheneum in Greektown may soon have some stiff competition when the hotel portion of the Greektown Casino Resort opens. For right now, however, The Atheneum is one of the few hotels along the People Mover and the only hotel in Greektown, a neighborhood boasting its own casino and a plethora of dining options. It is an all-suite hotel with recently-renovated, Greek décor and large, marble bathrooms.
