Valentine's Day falls on Thursday this year, which means a long weekend filled with Metro Detroit events that celebrate romance. Detroit Valentine's Day Events in 2014 range from family chocolate tastings to erotic art exhibitions:
Where: The Ark, Ann Arbor
A Valentine's Day concert featuring married musical couples, including Annie and Rod Capps and many more. Tickets are $15.

Where: Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase
Tina GIorgi sends up a hilarious ode to the holiday. Tickets run between $10 and $15. On Friday and Saturday nights there are late shows at 10:30 PM.
Where: Townsend Hotel
The Rugby Grille at the Townsend Hotel offers a four-course tasting menu in celebration of Valentine's Day. The cost is $90 per person. A wine-pairing option is also available.

Where: Ford Community & Performing Arts Center
The Doo Wop Legends Tour - Valentine's Edition features The Shades of Blue, Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs and The Dubs. Tickets run between $20 to $40 per person.
Where: Berts Warehouse Theater
You can take Valentine's Day in a more earthy direction at the Dirty Show - International Erotic Art Exhibition -- one of the largest in the world. The exhibit is specifically scheduled for the Valentine's Day weekend and has been around for over 10 years.
Where Detroit Princess Riverboat
The Detroit Princess Riverboat celebrates Valentine’s Day with two cruises. The Valentine's Day Dockside Motown Dinner features the Captain's Prime Rib dinner & buffet, Motown music and a cash bar. The event runs from 6 PM to 8:30 PM, and the cost is $39.95 an adult. Later in the evening, the Princess hosts a Valentine's Day Old School Moonlight is a dance party that features cash and concessions bars. The event runs from 10:30 PM until 1:30 AM, and the cost is $20 a ticket.

The library hosts a special Valentine's Day event that includes chocolate games, trivia and prizes. For kids from 7 to 12 years old.
Where: Forest Banquet Center, 1919 Star-Batt, Rochester Hill
The event includes a Find the Key to Your Heart Icebreaker, hors d'oeuvre buffet, sweet table and, of course, dancing to Top 40 hits. the DJ is Pam Hornbeck. Admission is $12 at the door for members, $15 non-members.
Where: Ford Education Center, Detroit Zoo
Come for the sex education but stay for the strolling supper. The event includes information about animal mating habits, as well as champagne, butler-passed Hors d'oeuvres, commemorative gift, and two drink tickets. Guests must be 21 years of age, and the cost is $75 per member / $85 per non-member.
