Valentine's Day falls on Thursday this year, which means a long weekend filled with Metro Detroit events that celebrate romance. Detroit Valentine's Day Events in 2013 range from family chocolate tastings to erotic art exhibitions:
Where: The Ark, Ann Arbor
A Valentine's Day concert featuring married musical couples, including Annie and Rod Capps and many more.
When: 2/14/13 through 2/16/13 at 8 PM
Where: Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase

Where: Townsend Hotel
The Townsend Hotel offers an a la carte Valentine experience. There are several options on the holiday, including a romantic dinner at The Rugby Grille, sweets from The Townsend Bakery and/or a special getaway.

Where: Ford Community & Performing Arts Center
A Fairy-Tale Princess Ball costs $15 a person and includes pizza, cookies, soft drinks, and keepsakes.
Where: Berts Warehouse Theater
You can take Valentine's Day in a more earthy direction at the Dirty Show - International Erotic Art Exhibition -- one of the largest in the world. The exhibit is specifically scheduled for the Valentine's Day weekend and has been around for over 10 years.

While the performances may not be specifically geared to the holiday, these concerts give you a great place to take that special someone on Valentine's Day:

Where: Glen Oaks Country Club, Farmington Hills
The FCB Big Band provides the music, which includes jazz, swing and dance selections. Event includes cash-bar cocktails and dinner. Tickets are $57.50 per person and includes a cocktail hour (with cash bar) and dinner.
When: 2/13/13 at 3:30 PM
Where: Milford Public Library
The library hosts a special teen event for the holiday that revolves around chocolate tastings, crafts and games.
Where: Ford Education Center, Detroit Zoo
Come for the sex education but stay for the strolling supper. The event includes information about animal mating habits, as well as champagne, butler-passed Hors d'oeuvres, commemorative gift, two drink tickets, a salad station, two entree stations, and a dessert station. Guests must be 21 years old or older, and the cost is $75 per member / $85 per non-member.
Where: San Marino Club, 1685 E. Big Beaver, Troy
The event includes a Find the Key to Your Heart Icebreaker, hors d'oeuvre buffet, sweet table and, of course, dancing to Top 40 hits. the DJ is Pam Hornbeck. Admission for members is $15 and $18 for non-members.
