Can I vote with an absentee ballot?

By Laura Sternberg, About.com

Question: Can I vote with an absentee ballot?
Answer: There are six statutory reasons that can be used by a registered voter to request an absentee ballot. The request must be made in writing by 2 p.m. on the Saturday immediately before Election Day. For the general election on November 3rd, 2009, the request must be made by October 31st, 2009. The ballot must be returned by 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Note: If a voter has never voted in Michigan before, and depending upon the reason for which the absentee ballot is requested, he or she may have to vote in person the first time they vote to fullful identification requirements.
