With the resignation of Kwame Kilpatrick, the City of Detroit began a series of elections (and a series of mayors). Kenneth Cockrel, Jr. acted as temporary mayor for six months, but David Bing won a special election in May to permanently succeed Kilpatrick for the rest of his term. Yet another election -- the regularly-scheduled general election -- takes place in November to determine who will be mayor for a full, four-year term. David Bing
Dave Bing was a professional basketball player back in the day and, more recently, a successful, Detroit businessman. These days he is the Mayor of Detroit -- after winnning a Special Election in May to finish out former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick's term.Tom Barrow
