Community Firework DisplaysLet's face it, Independence Day celebrations are all about the fireworks, whether they occur on the Fourth of July or in the weeks preceding it. To help you get the most bang for your buck, check out the Community Firework Displays in (or around) Metro Detroit, Michigan in June and July.
The 4th of July falls on a Friday in 2014, which means Detroiters can look forward to a long weekend for a proper Independence Day celebration. There are several concerts scheduled throughout the holiday weekend as well, including:
- Julianne Hough & Derek Hough at The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor
- International Festival of Electronic Music at Ford Field
- 311 wsg The Wailers at Freedom Hill Amphitheatre
- Nightmares on Wax at The Majestic
- 1964 The Tribute at Meadow Brook Music Festival
Wyandotte: The Independence Day Parade takes place on July 4th at 10 AM and runs along Biddle Avenue.
Festivals and Events:
Ann Arbor: The Ann Arbor Summer Festival continues throughout the holiday weekend. The entertainment lineup includes The Bluescasters, Black Note Graffiti, Lady Sunshine & the X-Band, Adam Plomaritas, Joe Hertler & The Rainbow Seekers, Diana Lawrence, Nervous But Excited, Dan Henig Band, Briar Rabbit, and The Capital Steps.
Clarkston: The 2013 Independence Fest at Clintonwood Park celebrates the holiday with live entertainment, a parade, carnival rides, craft show and fireworks. The event is scheduled for July 4th from 11 AM to 11 PM.
Dearborn: Greenfield Village celebrates with the 22nd Annual Salute to America in the Walnut Grove Historic District. The event runs on several evenings from July 2nd to July 5th, 2013. Each evening includes a Fireworks Finale that will be accompanied by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra performing Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overature, as well as 19th-century lawn games, picnics and food.
Oakland County: The Fabulous Fireworks! includes three display times and locations, including Addison Oaks in Oxford (7/4), Groveland Oaks in Holly (7/5) and Springfield Oaks in Davisburg (7/4). The Springfield Oaks display helps kick off the Oakland County Fair and includes a concert by T. J. Craven.
