Detroit Auto Show: New Models Available in the Near Future

Well...the Smart Car is new to you. The electric car is debuting in North America this year with a model built from the ground up just for us. The Smart Car, however, has been zipping around Europe since the 1990s. In addition to its green friendly roots, the car, the Fortwo, is very customizable. According to USAToday.com, plastic panels can be switched out to change the car's color if you tire of it.

While the car gets high scores on safety, the Detroit driving environment with multi-lane freeways may still prove a challenge.
