"No. VI"

Legend has it that Novi is named after the sixth stop along a road or railroad. Using roman numerals, this looks like "No. VI." There is some dispute over whether this story is really true -- it would make for an inauspicious beginning -- but whatever the origin of its name, Novi was once known as "Novi Corners" and is best known as a shopping destination.

Shopping Mecca

Novi has a vast number of shopping options, including Twelve Oaks Mall, Twelve Mile Crossing at Fountain Walk, Novi Town Center and Market Street. This is probably because of its cushy location close to the intersection of several freeways, including I-96, I-696 (Reuther) and I-275. Novi is also a hot night spot. In addition to The Second City comedy club, Novi hosts several bars and restaurants at both its Market Street and Fountain Walk shopping centers.
