History:

Ushering in a new kind of mall, Taubman Co. and Ridamco's super-regional shopping center was the largest mall in Michigan for over twenty years. The two-level mall was built as an oasis in the middle of farm land, built beyond even the suburban border of Detroit. With 180 stores, five anchors, a movie theater and an ice rink, however, it quickly became the center of the surrounding communities.

Over the years, stores have come and gone. In fact, the space containing the ice rink changed to a water slide and then an arcade before eventually becoming a food court. The mall itself has even changed hands.

Today:

These days, the mall has 180 stores and five anchors, including Sears, JC Penney, Lord & Taylor, Macy's and Macy's Men and Home. Dining options include the food court, Ruby Tuesday and Panera Bread.
