History:
The mall was one of the last designed by Victor Gruen, the architect who designed Northland and Eastland Malls in the 1950s. It was also one of three malls being developed in the metro area in 1976-77 by A. Alfred Taubman. The other two were Lakeside Mall and Fairlane Town Center. All three malls have features in common, including multiple levels, court areas and an attached movie theater. Like Lakeside Mall, however, the movie theater in Twelve Oaks Mall was eventually removed. The space now serves as the mall's food court.
Today:
With the 2007 addition, the mall now has 200 stores and five anchors, including Nordstrom's, Sears, JC Penney, Macy's and Lord & Taylor. Dining options include Olga's Kitchen, Max & Erma's and a food court. It also has a play area.
