Several CD anthologies were released in anticipation of the 50th anniversary of Motown Records in 2009, including Motown collection sets and individual-artist compilations.

Eminem, Soundtrack. Soundtrack from
8 Mile, the movie about Eminem's emergence as a rap artist in Detroit. It includes music from Eminem, Xzibit, Macy Gray and Rakim. Explicit lyrics.

Detroit Rock City, including songs from KISS, Van Halen, Marilyn Manson, Cheap Trick and David Bowie.
Bob Seger, Music CD. Detroit native Bob Seger's first album in 11 years. Many of his songs are inspired by Detroit.
Movies:
Eminem, Movie. A movie exploring Eminem's Detroit roots and emergence as a rap artist. The movie stars Eminem and Kim Basinger. R rated.
Michael Moore, Documentary. A documentary about guns from Michigan-native Michael Moore. Unsurprisingly, it includes several Michigan locations, including Flint and Detroit. Windsor is also a location.
Movie. Obviously set in Detroit, this movie follows the antics of four teenagers on a quest to a KISS concert They get sidetracked along the way on the streets of Detroit. R rated.
