This is Peter Vanderkaay’s second Olympics; he competed in Athens in 2004 and won the Gold Medal in the 800m Freestyle Relay along side Michael Phelps, with whom he now shares a coach.

Vanderkaay started swimming with his brother at the age of seven. He now trains at Club Wolverine with Bob Bowman, who also coaches teammate Michael Phelps. The word on the street is that he may retire after Beijing, but he doesn’t have to decide for a while.
