Summer is officially unveiled at the 56th Annual Ford Fireworks on Monday, June 23rd at 10:06 PM in downtown Detroit.
Of course, Detroit's celebration of all things summer includes more than just one night of pyrotechnics. Detroit also hosts three days of fun and games and music leading up to the fireworks display. The 8th Annual River Days takes place from June 20th to June 22nd, 2014. Aside from "Free Friday," a promotion that runs from 11 AM to 5 PM on Friday, June 20th, admission is $3 and $5 after 5 PM.
Street PerformersThe festival features over 25 street performers, including a living statue, bucket drummers, illusionists, jugglers, aerialists and more.
Over 60 musical acts will perform on three stages at the festival. Blackstreet, Mary Mary, John Kay & Steppenwolf, and Keith Sweat are scheduled on the Michigan Lottery National Stage, while local talent -- Bobby Murray, Notorious, Savage Rascals, The Reeferman, Larry Lee & Back in the Day, Social Bandits,The Zydeco Hep Cats -- will perform on one of the two Local Music Stages.

The festival literally ends with a big bang at the 56th annual Ford Fireworks on Monday, June 23rd. The display features over 10,000 pyrotechnics. You can watch the fireworks by staking out a location along the Detroit RiverWalk or head to the Official VIP Rooftop Party.
The fundraising party takes place on the roof of the Miller Parking Garage, just west of the Renaissance Center. It includes games, entertainment and food by Andiamo.
